Does anyone remember Don Flaig?  We went to his funeral last Fri.  He was 57 years old.   A good hearted young man who just got off the track.  And do you remember……I saw “Angel” at the funeral.  No not an Angel……Ted Kerrison.

One nite when Vern and Gary Adams were at our house for a sleep over Jody and Lanny were downstairs talking with them and I was getting the little kids bathed before bedtime…..I could hear parts of the conversation and when I leaned closer to the furnace vent to hear better…..they were talking about some girl and Vern asked is she cute?  And Jody said Cute? Hey even our mothers are better looking!!!!   They say those that eaves drop (or ear drop as Jody used to say) seldom hear well of themselves.

Garth Short was a good guy, but boy did he have stinky feet.  He and Oral bought brand new 1972 Duster and Challenger respectively on a trailer factory worker salary as 18 year old guys.  Times have changed.  Unfortunately Oral drove his into a tree.  The tree survived, but Oral and the car and his passenger did not.  They were recreating a trip Oral and I had taken the weekend before under identical circumstances.  Luckily for my grand kids, a week makes a lot of difference.

Who was the family doctor we used to go to on 16th avenue on about the third floor on the north side of the street about across from Sears?  He used to smoke a pipe and at the same time condemned smoking.  He once examined inside my ears when I was very little and said that I had enough dirt in there to grow carrots.  The image never left me.  I remember thinking of cartoon carrots like on Bugs Bunny.
