I remember picking up some dry cleaning for mom from Tip Top Tailors on Edmonton Trail - I believe it was a red suit jacket of moms. I had gone over on my bike and on my way home the jacket got caught in the spokes and even though there was plastic around it, the jacket still got grease on it. I didn’t own up to it at first – just gave it to mom and hoped she wouldn’t notice – right…..I finally admitted what had happened when mom insisted it didn’t happen at the dry cleaners – mom wasn’t mad, just said she wished I had told her first…and so did I at that point. What a relief. Thanks mom!

I remember mom taking such good care of us when we were sick. Bed made on the couch and the paper lunch bag folded down and taped to the coffee table for our Kleenexes.

Mom was the best at making me feel loved when I was sick! I remember the paper lunch bag folded down and safety pinned to the couch. I remember too that if we had a cold mom would give us a small glass of apple juice and a vitamin C every hour. I loved when we got those tiny orange chewable vitamin C's from Uncle Al at Trophic. Other vitamins I remember having to take and throwing some in the deep snow in the winter time on my way to school. (maybe this part should be under the True Confessions section)
ReplyDeleteI also remember that any time I had an upset stomach and was throwing up mom was always sitting beside me rubbing my back and just being there for me in the bathroom (and letting me be sick in the bathtub instead of the toilet - letting us keep some dignity).
Thanks mom for your compassion! Your example has helped me be a better, more loving mom.
