Going as young kids by ourselves in summer to the wadding pool all afternoon at Rotary park with our towels and flip flops which we legitimately called thongs.

Remember Rotary as well as walking all the way to Riley park – staying the day – eating popsicles – I remember dad’s favorite was a creamsicle.

Shopping at Safeway and taking a cab home. Mom always made sure I had extra money just in case.

What about that house across the street that went back about 100 yards with two big weeping willows in front. Did anyone live there?

How about spending summer afternoons on the brow of the hill by the church in our “forts” in the side of the hill.
And the ice cream place on Edmonton Trail was Boogies Burgers. It is still there but farther back from the street.

I mentioned it before, but does anyone recall looking at an old rooming house in Crescent Heights by the high school that was for sale? My memory is that it started talk of many possibilities, but I don't remember how it ended.

The house you are referring to was named the Hilltop Manor I think. It was a couple of houses from Crescent Park very near the church. Dad and Mom contemplated buying it pretty seriously. We even had bedrooms picked out. We did a walk through. I remember everyone getting really excited about it.
Dad, what was the reason we didn't buy it? Or is that one you would rather forget?

The Mountie/Boy Scout hats that dad had with the chin straps. We used to ask if we could wear them around the block when I was little. I think there were three of them and we would march off around our city block and return home. This took us right past the Lutheran church on 10th with the orange/red neon cross on top. I always enjoyed seeing that cross at night from our house.

The bicycle shop on Center street near Exchange cafe was a magical place for me. I recall it being as much a parts store as a bicycle shop. The banana seats, the smells of new black rubber, the combination locks. We used to pump up tires at the Phillips 66 across from the drug store on Edmonton Trail and 8th Avenue.
